The industrial design consultant. Who he is and what he does. A paper read before the Royal Society of Arts, for which the Society’s Silver Medal was awarded.
London & New York, The Studio 1947.
8vo. 144pp, numerous photo ills. Publisher’s decorative cloth, slightly soiled.
A well-illustrated and appropriately carefully designed little book, now scarce (the contents page lists the manufacturer of the paper and plates, the designer of the typography, the binder and so on). Mercer picks up on ideas originally imported from the Continent but neglected during the war, with the Americans now very much seen as the leaders in the field of industrial design.
