The language of post-modern architecture.
London, Academy Editions 1977.
Folio. 104pp, 164 ills (some colour). Publisher’s pictorial wrappers. Gavin Stamp’s copy, with his bookplate.
First edition, now scarce. Jencks’s influential book sought to give post-modern architecture an identity and some degree of intellectual respectability (but it is difficult to feel forty years later that the phenomena that he identifies were really evidence for the existence of a genuine “post-modern” movement).
