The making of Stourhead. Henry Hoare’s paradise.
(London, National Trust, 1965) (reprint from The Art Bulletin, vol.xlvii, no.1, March 1965).

An important article written for The Art Bulletin on the creation of the present garden at Stourhead by the banker Henry Hoare between the 1740s and the 1760s. A printed note at the foot of the upper cover records that this was a reprint “published by the National Trust”, although probably all that was involved was a reissue of the original sheets of Woodbridge’s article for a British readership.
