The shorter dictionary of English furniture from the middle ages to the late Georgian period.
London, Country Life Limited 1964.
Folio. 684pp, colour frontispiece, many photo ills. Publisher’s cloth, in dustwrapper (the wrapper a little torn and abraded at outer margins).
A shortened (but by no means short !) version of Macquoid and Edwards’s great Dictionary of English Furniture, published in three volumes in its definitive second edition ten years earlier, in 1954. The quality of its text and illustrations remains excellent. First edition in this format (there were later reissues).
