A treatise on surveying and the measurement and costing of materials which incorporates at the end instructions on the measurement of stonework according to local practice in the Namur district of present-day Belgium, and at Liège itself. The section on the measurement of stonework is illustrated, unexpectedly in a book of this nature, by (admittedly crude) woodcut illustrations of windows, doors and columns. This is the earliest printed book that we have handled that provides information of this nature for this particular part of Europe, and it appears to be uncommon.
