A volume of the weekly periodical Gardening Illustrated, founded by the prolific gardening writer William Robinson. The objective of Gardening Illustrated was to provide a form for the discussion of the merits of particular varieties of garden plants, fruit trees and vegetables, and it provides a great mass of information on plant varieties cultivated at that time, as well as practical hints on how best to plant them and cultivate them.
